2025 Technology & Asset Management Fellowship (TAM)

The Technology and Asset Management Fellowship (TAM) is a young adult fellowship and prize competition. Designed as a career exploration opportunity for participants, our mission is to build a more robust pipeline of tech and asset management experts with an emphasis on emerging markets.

Generously supported by a grant from the James Irvine Foundation in partnership with Blended Impact, TAM offers this leadership and talent development initiative to current undergraduate and graduate students across California, along with competitive non-student applicants aged 16-24 (aka Opportunity Youth).

Phase One: Fellowship

An eight week virtual career exploration fellowship featuring prominent national guest speakers. Topics covered include technology entrepreneurship & technology commercialization, investing in businesses as a venture capitalist, investment banker, or private equity investor, and investing in real estate development as a public or private sector developer and fund manager.

Eligibility: Opportunity Youth, Undergraduate and Graduate Students, Post Graduates up to 5 years

Timeline: Weekly June 4th to July 30th, 2025

Time Commitment: Approximately 3 hours weekly across 1.5 hour session plus 1.5 hour reading and research

Benefits: Graduation Certificate, Peer Learning Cohort, Resume Building Experience, Competition Eligibility

Phase Two: Competition

A six week prized entrepreneurship competition featuring a venture scalable business or new concept. Fellows will be given background research and a challenge statement with the challenge of proposing robust solutions including customer interviews, go to market strategy, and financial projections.

Eligibility: Fellowship graduates only. Three competitors minimum in each of the three age brackets required for competition: Opportunity Youth Aged 16-Sophomore; Junior-Senior; and Masters, MBA, & up to 5 years Post Graduate

Timeline: Weekly July 9th to August 27th, 2025

Time Commitment: Approximately 3 hours or more weekly across research, writing, and presentation preparation

Phase Three: Entrepreneurship In Residence

An invite only Entrepreneurship in Residence to develop a business concept within the support of an established company. EIRs will focus on growth strategies and content development to impact top line growth and month over month improvements. High achieving candidates with an interest in process driven marketing, research, and product development would be best suited for this role.

Eligibility: Invited competitors only.

Timeline: Weekly September 17th, 2025 to April 22nd, 2026

Time Commitment: Minimum 10 hours weekly

FAQs

Who is eligible for this fellowship?

As we are aiming to engage young adults in emerging ecosystems, students at the 9 University of California Schools, 23 Cal State Universities, and Opportunity Youth will be prioritized. Candidates that may not attend, but live in cities where these institutions are present are welcome and encouraged to apply. Additional candidates will be admitted up to capacity for a robust exchange of ideas. All majors are welcome to apply.

Am I required to participate in the prize competition?

There is no requirement to participate in the competition. Only candidates who participated in the Fellowship will be eligible to compete in the competition. The competition serves as an opportunity to put learning into action and give Fellows the opportunity to do deep-dive research in an area of their choice with the potential for prizes.

How can I best prepare for the prize competition?

Only participants of phase one will be eligible to compete in phase two. The competition will consist of a 2 to 5-page research paper and presentation on a challenge statement. All fellows will be required to conduct interviews with at least 3 parties to be eligible for the competition. Additional guidance will be provided on the kickoff day and throughout the fellowship.

Please note: any prize winners of awards over $600 will be required to complete an IRS W-9 form complete with SSN or TIN. A 1099 will be issued at year-end for all awards over $600 and taxes may be applicable, please consult your tax advisor.

What do I need to bring to the cohort?

Bring yourself, a can-do attitude, good character, punctuality to all classes, and the analytical, operational, and strategic skills you possess to support you and your cohort’s growth.
